In this course we will examine the cultures and histories of the major Indigenous groups in Canada.  We will consider the natural and geopolitical forces which shaped their economies prior to and during the first centuries of European contact, and to the present day.  We will consider how to model and measure discrimination.  We'll identify the economic incentives implicit in various governance, fiscal, and resource management arrangements and discuss culturally sensitive strategies for economic growth in Indigenous communities whether remote, urban, or reserve communities.
