We wish to congratulate Queen’s Department of Economics Post-Doctoral Fellow, Dr. Majid Hashemi, on being the 2022 winner of the international competition for the best PhD thesis dealing with the theory and/or practice of benefit-cost analysis. The annual award was announced on May 11, 2022, by the President of the Society of Cost Benefit Analysis, Professor Glenn Bloomquist. This international research competition is sponsored by Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis. The award is intended to recognize outstanding work by promising new researchers in the field.
The title of the thesis is “The Economic Value of Electricity Reliability.” Dr. Hashemi received his PhD from Clemson University, South Carolina, USA. All three chapters of his thesis have been accepted for publication in leading journals in this field.
